For clay tile, it can force water under nail heads and into the fixing holes, accelerating the nail corrosion that causes nail sickness. And it provides zero residual inhibition β moss regrows from spores within six months on a pressure-washed roof.
Biocide and zinc strip treatment is slower and less dramatically visible in the short term. The roof looks worse for four to eight weeks as the dead moss dries and begins to detach. The result after three months β and the result for the following eight to twelve years β is clean, inhibited roof surface that requires no further intervention.
